With our innovative play-based teaching approach, children as young as 3 years old can begin learning the foundational skills of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.


Toddler Jiu Jitsu meets every Saturday morning. We currently have two sessions:


  • Session 1   Saturdays from 9:00-9:30am
  • Session 2  Saturdays from 10:00-10:30am


These are small group sessions with limited openings for new students.


We are now taking Free Trial Class appointment requests for both sessions.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that teaches you how to use your body to control another person, and limit their ability to do you harm.

WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN?

The Toddler Class focuses on developing coordination, movement skills, and a basic understanding of key Jiu Jitsu positions and principles.

WHAT AGE RANGE IS ACCEPTED?

We accept students ages 3-4 years old into our Toddler Class. Children who are 5 and older are eligible for our Kids Class.

WHEN DO CLASSES TAKE PLACE?

Toddler Class meets every Saturday morning. We currently have two sessions available (9am and 10am).

DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BE POTTY TRAINED?

No, your child does not need to be potty-trained. Toddlers who are not potty-trained may participate in class while wearing a diaper.

AM I ALLOWED TO WATCH CLASS, OR IS IT DROP-OFF ONLY?

Parents may stay in our waiting area to watch the class.

CAN PARENTS BE ON THE MATS?

Parents are permitted on the mats during pre-class play time. Once class begins, parents must be off the mats and may observe from the waiting area.

Alex Aung

BLACK BELT, 3RD DEGREE

Alex is the head instructor of Common Ground. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and previously worked as a child psychotherapist. Alex is also a parent, and is knowledgeable about working with children and youth. 

Sally Chung

BROWN BELT

Sally is an experienced instructor who specializes in working with women and kids. She is passionate about empowering children to believe in themselves and feel confident in their abilities.
